What makes a Koken Ratchet so good?
Simple, it’s Koken’s S.O.D.H System.
Two dogs are located in the ratchet body so that the dogs and springs are held securely in place while allowing the reversing lever and dog to switch smoothly. The torque load on the gear it is transmitted vertically to the dog, and in turn, down the ratchet handle. This mechanism locks gears tightly in place while torque is being applied, thus avoiding any gear slippage.
Two flats hold two teeth of the ratchet gear, thus increasing the maximum torque load of the ratchet compared with a single-step system.
Two dogs are set in the same axis, and the three teeth hold the ratchet gear.
The enlarged contact area produces about 10% higher torque value and the S.O.D.H-System provides smooth and light movements.
